The department deals with a limited area of the vast discipline- Food Science and Technology. We are aimed to teach and make students understand the nutrient functions in human health, processing and storage of foods, quality aspects of the various food items. The courses detail the basic and advance aspects of Food and Nutritional Science, Food Processing Technology, Food Engineering and Food Trade and Business Management.
Objectives of Department
i.To provide necessary contemporary knowledge regarding human nutrition and food technology
ii.To teach functions of nutrients and deficiency disorders / diseases
iii.To enable students to understand quality and analytical aspects of foods
iv.To undertake processing, packaging and storage of various foods
v.To carry out production of fruit, vegetable and animal-based food items
vi.To understand national and global trades regarding food industry
vii.To collaborate with industry, research institutions and organizations involved in food processing.
