The Department of Agricultural Extension deals with developing dedicated and passionate professionals, who are willing to serve in the development sector in general and the socio-economic transformation of the farming community in particular. The faculty members inculcate this required knowledge and skill-sets among students and other key stakeholders by imparting interactive teaching-learning sessions, undertaking evidence-based action researches, conducting a need-based and customized trainings and providing mentoring and academic consultancy services.
Objectives
i.To develop cadre of extension professionals by imparting teaching and training in the present and prospective subject areas of the discipline.
ii.To undertake strategic and evidence-based research in the areas of agricultural extension for continuous improvement in the discipline and contribute in social policies.
iii.To understand and undertake the agricultural and rural development interventions through action research, case studies, and mentoring grassroots level institutions.
iv.To carry out customize and need-based national and international training programmes to impart knowledge, and skills among key stakeholders including farmers.
v.To coordinate various extension activities of the Institute for enabling extension function of the SAST to achieve desired goals.
